The PVL-15 is a quality ALI-certified heavy-duty lift that performs well once properly installed. The 15,000 lb capacity is genuine and the 8mm steel construction is rock solid. However, at 2,400 lbs shipping weight, unloading and installation was a major undertaking. The manual needs significant improvement. Professional installation is basically mandatory.
At the discounted price the PVL-15 is reasonable for an ALI-certified 15,000 lb lift. The 8mm steel and direct-drive hydraulics are quality components. The truck adapters are useful. However, the finish quality could be better, the installation documentation needs a rewrite, and you absolutely need professional help to install a 2,400 lb lift.
The PVL-15 lifts our heaviest vehicles without complaint. The ALI certification and 8mm steel construction inspire confidence. The direct-drive cylinders are smooth. Negatives include shipping damage on the powder coat, vague installation instructions, and the 174.5-inch height requirement that forced us to modify our ceiling. Performs well once set up.
The PVL-15 functions as advertised — the 15,000 lb capacity handles our heaviest trucks and the ALI certification is legitimate. The direct-drive hydraulics are smooth. However, one hydraulic fitting leaked on first use, the powder-coat had rough spots, and the arm restraint on one side needed adjustment before it would engage properly.
Five months in and the PVL-15 is our workhorse bay. The direct-drive hydraulic system hasn't needed any attention beyond routine fluid checks. The 8mm steel columns feel like they'll last forever. The dual-point lock release works smoothly. Only took off a star because the installation required professional help — it's a heavy lift to set up.
